Dr. Dávila’s commitment to university and professional service has focused on undergraduate mentoring and professional development for racial and ethnic minorities. Having personally benefited from excellent mentorship and outreach programs, she strives to live according to the motto, “each one, teach one.” In addition, in her Sociology of Education course, students engage in academic service-learning and maintain a cultural praxis journal where they analyze and reflect upon their field site interactions in relation to our course material. Previous community partners for the course include: the Pomona Economic Opportunity Center, Bright Prospect, and Park West High School (Pomona, CA) Current community partners include: Think Together and Garey High School (Pomona, CA).
