Acknowledgments

Like most other faculty, Dr. Dávila did not arrive here on her own, but rather, several individuals and programs facilitated her growth as a student and scholar.  This page is an effort to demonstrate some recognition for their important work. Dr. Dávila’s undergraduate mentors include: Drs. José (and Rose) Calderon, María Soldatenko, Dipa Basu, Ann Stromberg, and Anita Revilla.  Programs include: the Chicana/o/Latina/o Student Affairs Center at the Claremont Colleges and the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program at Claremont Graduate University.  Her graduate mentors include: Drs. Denise Segura, G. Reginald Daniel, J. Manuel Casas, Beth Schneider, Tara Yosso, María Herrera-Sobek, and Paul Spickard at UCSB, Daniel Solórzano at UCLA, Mary Danico at Cal Poly Pomona, Estela Bensimon, Alicia Dowd, and Ricardo Stanton-Salazar at USC.  Programs include: the University of California Diversity Initiative for Graduate Study in the Social Sciences (UC DIGSSS), University of California All Campus Consortium for Research on Diversity, American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) Graduate Fellowship Program, and the American Sociological Association’s Minority Fellowship Program (MFP).  She is also incredibly grateful to her family, the Fairplex Child Development Center, Dr. Ron Garcia at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Ruth Zambrana at the University of Maryland, Dr. Jessica Kizer at Pitzer College, the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity, former colleagues at Willamette University, and colleagues at Cal Poly Pomona.
